The Alumni profile project was a showcase of multidisciplinary design techniques. We were not only expected to create a beautiful magazine layout based on a UBalt Alum but also interview that person, write an accurate article or Q&A about them, and connect our interviewee's personality to our design.
Here is a closer look at each of the pages of this spread.
From the beginning of this project, I wanted to turn Jim's name into an interesting graphic element. I tried to make that happen in a few different ways during my brainstorming process. After researching and sketching, I landed on splitting his name and adding a tagline between the two halves.
Cookbook Assignment
Another interesting print project asked our class to take a recipe that mattered to us and create a cookbook-style layout that relied heavily on the text and as few extra graphic elements as possible. With feedback from my classmates, I was able to design a spread that highlighted the recipe, and my story, and pull colors from my photo to tie everything together.
It was hard to choose a photo for my recipe. Below are three photos I took after making myself some of these delicious cookies, and my cat, Pod, trying to steal one.
